THE CHALLENGE

Giving a gift is one of the best things to do, it brings joy all around. But finding that perfect gift doesn’t always spark joy.

So how can we help the customer navigate quicker, efficiently, and most importantly create some fun? To find out the answer, I applied different design-thinking methodologies.

DESIGN PROCESS

During this project different design-thinking methodologies were used. The Double Diamond design process used in this project is a framework that helps designers navigate through the various stages of design thinking. It is a visual representation of the divergent and convergent stages that designers go through when trying to solve a problem or create something new.

DISCOVERY

Within the discovery phase, the main focus is to gather as much information as possible about the problem or possible opportunity.

This information involves research, observation, and analysis which gains us a deeper understanding of the issue. And by eventually understanding the situation a solution will present itself.

DEFINE

Once we gathered enough information about the possible customer problem or opportunity. The next step should be all about how to identifying the key issues and determining the direction forwards.

THE PROBLEM SPACE

Our challenge was to create a new component with a main focus on efficiency and fun. So now that we understand the customer, the challenges they face, and the goals they want to achieve, we can define the problem as follows:

  1. Complicated filters on listing pages.
  2. No clear objective on what the gift needs to be yet.
  3. Choice overload on available products on the listing page.

DEVELOP

DELIVER

During this stage, it is important to generate a range of possible solutions to the problem or opportunity. The focus is to find as many ideas as possible and test them with users.
